Datum: 04.12.2001 Uhrzeit: 12:59:10 Max Meier *-*20 Olympus to restructure camera operations (DB 04/12) Olympus Optical has announced plans to restructure its loss-making digital camera operations, hoping they will break even at an operating level in fiscal 2002. The number of models will be reduce from 15 to 10 and production of cameras will also begin in China, therefore cutting costs. The company also intends to increase sales of lenses, printers and other peripherals to Y50bn in fiscal 2005; sales are currently Y15bn. Other possible moves include co- operation with Eastman Kodak in web-based printing. Nikkei Weekly. English.
